Obituary

Lake George Village, NY --- William (Bill) Doster, 92, passed away peacefully at Glens Falls Hospital on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Born December 30, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Francis T. A. and Mary (Olmstead) Doster. In his youth he moved to Lake George and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Barbara and Harry Bowen after the untimely death of Bills dad. This allowed his mom, Mary to build her nursing career in Brooklyn, NY and later remarried and moved back to Lake George.

Bill's time with his aunt and uncle helped shape his love for music, values, and discipline that led him to attend Fredonia for music, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He served in The Korean War and was awarded the Nation Defense Service Metal. After his military service, he built a successful career in procurement and purchasing management, working for several companies over the years.

Bill later returned to government service, including USPS – DAPS (Defense Automated Printing Service) and SUBMEPP (Submarine Maintenance Engineering Planning and Procurement Service) and retired in 1998. He continued his dedication to serve with his involvement of Veterans Service organizations- American Legion, VFW, Korean War Vets Association, Marine Corps League Association, and BPOE Elks until the time of his death.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Mansfield Doster of New Jersey and second wife, Nancy Fish Doster of Glens Falls.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Christopher Doster of Lake George, NY, David (Lisa) Doster, their children, Jackson and Jayden of Lake George, NY, and Sean Doster, his children, Brendon (Jenna) Doster, their children, Riley and Emma, Brian Doster and his child, Aiden, and from his first marriage;  Mark (Fran) Doster, their children, Joseph and Brad of Brick, New Jersey; Scott (Gemma) Doster, their children, James and Christopher of New Jersey; and Anne Pavase, her children, Nicholas (Robin), their children Lance and Freya; and Tiffany of Wall, New Jersey.

A celebration of life honoring Bill will be held at The American Legion Post 374 Lake George NY- Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m., open to the public.

A burial will be held in the Spring at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Glens Falls Hospital for their care with William.
