LAKE GEORGE---William B. Freeman, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024, with his wife by his side.
Bill was born in Georgia on October 18, 1936, to Edwin B. and Kathren Y. Freeman. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. He was also a state of Florida registered professional engineer.
Bill served honorably for 10 years in the United States Naval Reserve. He retired from Lockheed Martin where he worked as a chemical engineer. He and Helene moved to the village of Lake George, NY shortly thereafter where they designed and built their cozy sanctuary.
Bill was an avid bird watcher. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and creating stained glass works of art. Cooking was another favorite pastime. A devoted reader of scripture, Bill remained active with the Word of Life fellowship.
Bill was a kind and gentle soul and a consummately devoted family man.
In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by his son, Dean William Freeman and sister, Kitty Freeman.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Helene Freeman; his grandchildren, Heidi Rose Burroughs of Lexington, S.C. and Heather Ann Freeman of Apex, N.C., and one great-grandson, Everett Burroughs.
Visitation will take place Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, N.Y. 12804.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Matthews, Pastor of Bolton Community Church officiating.
A graveside ceremony with military honors will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George.
