William
Green
Mar 18, 1952 — Oct 6, 2023
QUEENSBURY --- It is with profound sorrow that the family of Dr. William Green of Queensbury, NY announces his passing on October 6, 2023. He departed suddenly and unexpectedly, in the arms of his best friend and beloved wife Lessle. Our grief is palpable.
Born March 18, 1952, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Dr. Manuel Green, and his loving mother Stella Kaplan Green.
Growing up and educated in Schenectady, Bill graduated from Linton High School in 1970. He matriculated at Colgate University, graduating with a degree in science, and continued his education at SUNY Buffalo, School of Dentistry, earning a DDS. He subsequently set up private practices in Clifton Park, NY and Corinth, NY. Bill was a member of the American Dental Association. He retired in 2020.
Bill loved being active in retirement. He was finally able to pursue his hobbies of photography, and of reading the great books on the Civil War. He loved his sunny days of boating on Lake George with his family and friends.
His true passion, however, was woodworking, where he spent many years enjoying and refining his craft. He was a true artist!
Bill's love for his family was unwavering. He was a devoted husband and an exemplary and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a caring and loyal son, brother, and uncle. He was the happiest and felt most complete when he was in the company of family.
Bill also had many lifelong friendships that he cherished. They had all reconnected after retirement, sharing books, stories, and of course, jokes! He called his dear friend, Joe, every year on Christmas Eve, never missing a year for 50 years! His good friend Jim ("Jimmy Jack") and he had developed a correspondence of sharing YouTube videos and "third grade" jokes!
Bill treasured those true friendships and comradery. He was excited and looking forward to joining some of those friends to attend an upcoming Colgate football game.
Most importantly, Bill will be remembered for his unpretentious intelligence, calm demeanor, warm hearted kindness, and jocular sense of humor! One always felt better in his company. He will be greatly missed and is irreplaceable!
Those left to cherish his memory are the lights of his life; his beloved wife, Lessle, his adoring children, Gabrielle, Andrew and Molly; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Alexander, Elizabeth, and Georgiana; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Mia, and Arianna; his treasured siblings; (to whom he was affectionately known as Willie) brother, Louis, and sisters, Rosemond Rabinowitz and Jeanne Rosenkranz. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Bill was predeceased by his father and mother, Dr. Manuel and Stella Kaplan Green.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Bill's life will be held by the family at a date yet to be determined.
