QUEENSBURY--- William "Billy" J. Frye, 69, a long-time resident of Warrensburg, and more recently of Queensbury passed away at Kingston Hospital on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
Born August 12, 1951 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Verna (Baker) Springer, and the late William "Hurley" Frye.
While Billy attended Warrensburg High School, he played in a band called "The Rejects" as a drummer and singer, specializing in the song, Wipeout, as a drum solo. He attended a Christian church in St Petersburg, Florida, where he was a Youth Group leader and bus driver. After moving back to the North Country, he was self-employed as an exceptional drywall hanger and taper for various companies. You will always remember Billy with his big walking stick, and great sense of humor.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, competing in horseshoe tournaments, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by his "adoptive" father, Dominic Arcuri; sister, Melissa "Missy" Arcuri; and grandparents, Archie and Edna Baker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Darlene "Dolly" (Hamblin) Frye; children, Christian Frye (Ashley) and Matthew Frye; stepson, Roger Baker; parents, Verna Springer (Herb); sisters, Ricci Redfield (Peter), Tawn Whittemore (Larry); granddaughters, Ashlee and Megyn Frye; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, with mention of a special nephew, Justin Davis; Special Uncle Fred Baker and life time buddy, more like a brother; Cousin E.J. Baker, one of his favorite fishing buddies; and many dear friends, notably, Donnie and Steve Rafferty who were like brothers.
Calling hours will take place Saturday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Billy's uncle, James Allen Baker, officiating.
Everyone is invited to the Lake George American Legion Post No. 374 for a gathering following the services.
Condolences and floral arrangements may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com
