Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- William “Bill” Donald Pittman, 92, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Born May 16, 1934, in Poughkeepsie he was the son of William George Pittman and Mildred (Vessey) Grimaldi.

William graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1952 and went on to earn an associate degree from Orange County Community College. He later spent two years studying at Long Island University.

William was drafted to the Army in November of 1956 and served until November of 1958. He was then recalled for the Berlin Crisis from October of 1961 until August of 1962.

He married Carol Ann Gordon on December 7, 1963, in Suffern, New York.

William worked as a sandblasting contractor and a painter, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Hague, New York, delivering meals for several years. He loved to ski, play tennis, and go swimming and fishing.

In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his wife Carol; grandparents, William and Florence Pittman; and half-sister, Martha.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Thomas (Patricia) Pittman of Cape Coral, Florida and Quaker Springs, New York and Linda Pittman of Cape Coral, Florida; brother, John Pittman of North Carolina; and special friend Katherine Dunn of Queensbury, New York.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
