Obituary

Bolton Landing --- William H. Ryder Sr., 86, passed away after a brief illness Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Born January 2, 1939 in Bolton Landing, New York he was the son of Raymond Sr. and Henrietta (Hewitt) Ryder.

William graduated from Bolton Central School in 1956.

Following high school, William went on to join the United States Airforce from November 13, 1956 to November 9, 1960. During his military career he was in Germany as Military Police with his loyally trained German Shepherd, Arco.

William worked for the Local Union 773 from 1971 until his retirement.

In his younger years, William and his brothers would go to the Conservation Club and play guitar and square dance.

William had many different hobbies including playing guitar, hunting and fishing, and watching the New York Yankees. He enjoyed hanging out with his special friends, Butch and Tommy,  on the weekends and enjoying a cold one in the summers!

In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his siblings, Beth Younes, Veronica Kincaid, Wayne Ryder, and Raymond Ryder Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his former wife and mother of his children, Margaret Ryder of Hudson Falls; children, William Ryder Jr. of Diamond Point, Reneé Hoffer of Hudson Falls, and Nicole (Joe) Schrammel of Gansevoort; grandchildren, Tyler (Cassie) Schrammel of Gansevoort, Travis Schrammel of Gansevoort, Dylan Schrammel of Gansevoort, Savannah Schrammel of Gansevoort, Alyssa Hoffer and Samantha Hoffer of Hudson Falls, Ryan Ryder of Florida, and Becky Burnett of Putman; great-grandchildren, Landon Schrammel of Gansevoort, Kayden Hoffer, Aryssa and River Ball of Hudson Falls; sister, June Curran of Diamond Point; brothers, Leroy (Doreen) Ryder of Bolton Landing, and Gary (Teddi Jo) Ryder of Florida; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.

William will be deeply missed by all who loved him. It's not a goodbye Dad but see you later!
