Obituary

MOREAU --- William Siebert, 88, of Reynolds Road, Moreau, passed away Veteran's Day, Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Born Aug. 28, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Holmquist) Siebert.
Mr. Siebert loved God and his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, serving at the Naval Aviation Training Base in Pensacola, Florida, starting a lifelong love affair with aviation. He went on to serve aboard the USS Currituck (AV-7) and advanced to Aviation Machinist Mate 2c. After the war, he was transferred to NAS Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, N.Y. as Stationkeeper and served with various squadrons thru the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after twenty years of service leaving as Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class – Aircrew (Reciprocating Engine Mechanic).
He was a member of Bolton Landing American Legion Post No. 961 for over thirty years. Mr. Siebert carried his private pilot's license until his health failed two years ago and he was forced to give it up due to Alzheimer's.
His hobbies included R.C. planes, maintaining his automobiles, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing, sailing, and boating in Lake George, which he enjoyed for over fifty years. Above all, his fondest memories were spent with his family and friends at various holiday parties and traveling around the country. He was well loved by all and will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Florence Siebert.
Survivors include his close friend, Joan Conway; son, William Siebert Jr. and his fiancé, Heather Muldowney of Schodack Landing; daughter, Carolynn Carpenter and her husband, Joe, of Ft. Edward, and daughter, Lorraine Beals and her husband, Steve, of East Greenbush; five grandchildren, William J. Siebert of Albany, Brandon Siebert and his wife, Kailyn, also of Albany, Harold Raven III and his wife, Erin, of Queensbury, Jennifer (Raven) Soltis and her husband, Ryan, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Grant Beals of East Greenbush; four great-grandchildren, Finnian and Adelena Siebert, and Jack and Karen Raven, and Connor Cervoni.
Friends may call upon the family Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, with the Rev. Robert Allison, Pastor of Bay Rd. Presbyterian Church, officiating. Bagpipes will be performed by Jerry Cashion.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at 12 p.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
