Obituary

GLENS FALLS – Willie John Hayes, 92, of Luzerne Rd., passed away at home Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Born June 27, 1924 in Hebron N.Y., Willie was the son of the late Sarah (Cooper) Hayes.

A member of the US Army, Willie was honorably discharged in September of 1945.

Willie married Ruth C. Lopez and together they had five wonderful children.

His hobbies included working on bicycles playing cards and attending auctions.

He was a member of the Salvation Army, as well as, a member of the Country Music Association along with his wife.

In addition to his mother, Willie was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth Hayes; twin brother, William "T.D." Hayes; his brothers, Charlie Hayes and Sam Hayes; sisters, Inez Vanguilder, Sarah Jenkins and Nelly Winchell; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Breault.

Left to cherish his memory are their five children, Paul (Marge) Hayes, Charlie (Shelly) Hayes, David (Beth) Hayes, Linda (Bruce) Breault, and Shirley Ogden; close friend, Tracy Pratt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9th at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9th at the funeral home with Major David Dean of the Salvation Army officiating.
Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Hartford, NY.
